Postdoctoral Position in Biochemistry/Chemical Biology

A postdoctoral research associate position in biochemistry/chemical biology will be available in early 2015 in the department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, pending funding approval. Qualified applicants will have experience with protein expression, purification and labeling; in vitro biochemical assays; and protein characterization. Experience with proteomics or fluorescence-based assays is preferred, but not required. Interested applicants should send a research summary, CV, and contact information for three references via email to Prof. Terry Moore (twmoore@uic.edu).

Tenure-track faculty positions (2)

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks candidates for two open rank (tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) positions.  Our Department is rooted in drug discovery fostered by a highly collaborative atmosphere.  Faculty members are expected to interact extensively with other laboratories in the department and affiliated research centers while developing/maintaining externally funded, independent research programs.  Teaching in the professional and graduate programs of the College of Pharmacy is required.  Candidates must possess a doctorate in chemistry, pharmacognosy, chemical or molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, or a related discipline.  Postdoctoral experience is required. Applicants should complete an application package and submit a curriculum vitae, a research proposal (no more than 3 pages) describing plans for an independent research program, a list of possible intradepartmental collaborations, and the contact information for 3 references at:

Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Biology and Epigenetics

Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately to study mechanisms of epigenetic regulation in cancer. The goal of this research is to build upon our recent findings demonstrating endogenously produced free radicals can function as epigenetic regulators (Journal of Biological Chemistry 2013, PMID:23546878). The project will investigate how dysregulation of posttranslational histone modifications result in tumor-associated phenotypic changes. The project will utilize novel in vivo and in vitro models along with biochemical, imaging, molecular biological, and gene array techniques. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology/Biochemistry or a related field and experience in cell and molecular biology. The ability to write and edit manuscripts/grants, execute and analyze an independent research project and exceptional verbal and written communication skills will be required. Protein biochemistry, animal experience, and knowledge of bioinformatics along with a background in cancer biology are preferred. Send resume and contact information for 3 references to: Dr. Douglas D. Thomas, Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, (M/C 781), College of Pharmacy, University of Illinois at Chicago, 833 S. Wood St., Chicago, IL, 60612-7231, Email: ddthomas@uic.edu. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
